TOASTED FRENCH BREAD SLICES | MIDWEST LIVING
¼ cup olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
½ teaspoon snipped, fresh rosemary or thyme, or 1/8 teaspoon dried rosemary or thyme, crushed (optional)
20 1/2-inch thick slices baguette-style French bread or ten 1/2-inch- thick slices French or Italian bread, halved
- In a small saucepan, stir together the olive oil, garlic, and the herb, if you like. Heat just until warm, and the garlic sizzles.
- Meanwhile, to toast the bread slices, arrange the bread in a single layer on a baking sheet. Broil the bread 5 to 6 inches from heat for 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until golden.
- Brush both sides of the bread slices with the olive oil mixture. Makes 20 slices.
